Don’t Be a Fool With Fuel – Tom DeJan
CEPA Safety Meeting
Flying is a skill that you learned to get your pilot certificates. And, systems was a big part of that. But you probably learned practically nothing about fuel metering, operation, and performance. Tom will discuss carburetion, fuel injection, engine limits and operation, and performance planning.
Speaker: Tom DeJan has over 30 years of military aviation service, spanning B-52G crew chief duties in the Strategic Air Command, UH-1H technical inspections in Honduras, and MC-130E flight engineer deployments in Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Tom brings rare operational depth to every topic. Tom holds an A&P, IA, and commercial multi-engine instrument ratings. He has worked as a Professional Flight Engineer for ATA, Kalitta Air, and Tepper Aviation, led the USN MZ-3A airship maintenance program, and conducted international patrol operations combating illegal fishing in Samoa. A Distinguished Flying Cross and four Air Medals underscore a career defined by excellence aloft and on the flight line.
