March 27 2019 IMC Club

Chicago Executive Pilots Association presents IMC CLUB at PWK

Our pilot is based at Logan County Airport (KAAA) and going to Ohio State University Airport (KOSU) in his Cessna 182 to pick up his daughter for a weekend visit. And, as pilots sometimes do, it’s a nice day and he gets a little lax with his preflight planning. It is human nature; after so many flights with nothing unexpected, a little complacency can creep in. Yet a simple lack of planning creates a serious jam. Decide what must happen to avoid this serious mistake. And, as Radek always asks, we will answer the big question, “what would you do?

Borys Pawlowski us a CFI, CFII, ASEL, AMEL, ASES, and United Airlines Aircraft Dispatcher, former U.S. Air Force In-flight Refueling Wing, will lead the discussion as we find our pilot having to face some uncomfortable consequences of a chain of decisions (yes, there it is, the “chain” word, long time IMC Club participants know that means things are going to go bad). As a UAL dispatcher and aircraft dispatcher instructor, you can bet Borys is all about the mission planning and situation management.

We gratefully acknowledge PilotWorkshop.com for creating and allow us permission us to use this scenario they produced as part of their IFR Mastery series.

The IMC ClubÔÇÖs purpose is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share their perspective, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. An IFR rating is not needed to participate in this excellent forum where we think through the various options from the comfort of your chair, firmly on the ground… before it is you sitting in the cockpit. In fact, IFR and Private Pilot students are encouraged to participate.

We meet monthly when pilots (and would-be pilots) network and share knowledge and experiences to keep our head in the game and build a library of problem/solution sets to draw upon when the Fickle Finger of Fate points at you!

Please register for this event at FAASafety.gov.
