SUMMARY:IMC Club at PWK - Go/No-Go Weather decisions-PVD to SYR - Rex Alexander
DESCRIPTION:You want to make a trip from Providence\, RI\, to Syracuse\, NY\, in your Piper Arrow. It’s only about an hour and 35 minutes. You want to leave early since you aren’t night proficient. Will the weather give us what we want\, or at least what we need? \n  \nSpeaker bio:\nRex Alexander is president of Five-Alpha (5α) LLC\, a global consultancy dedicated to providing specialized education\, training\, insight\, and services in the very challenging and unique communities of Helicopter and Vertical Lift Infrastructure and Organ/Tissue Donation & Transplantation. \nThe IMC Club:\nIMC Club’s purpose is to promote instrument flying\, proficiency\, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share their perspective\, provide recognition\, foster communications\, promote safety\, and build proficiency in instrument flying. An IFR rating is not needed to participate\, student pilots and airline captains alike are invited. We think through the various options from the comfort of your chair\, firmly on the ground… before it is you sitting in the cockpit. \nWe meet monthly when pilots (and would-be pilots) network and share knowledge and experiences to keep our head in the game.  \n \nSponsored by Chicago Executive Pilots Association (CEPA). \nIf you aren’t a member of CEPA\, please consider joining CEPA if you aren’t a member and like programs like this\, please visit us at www.PWKpilots.org/membership/  Your dues help pay for these safety seminars. \nNOTE: There is a Safety Meeting following this one. Each has a separate registration. Please join us for both but be sure to register for both separately. Also\, register here for the CEPA Safety Meeting.

SUMMARY:Safety Meeting at PWK - Get your HEMS tool up - Rex Alexander
DESCRIPTION:HEMS stands for Helicopter Emergency Medical Services. But you don’t need to be flying a helicopter\, nor doing emergency medical services to make good use of it. \nWhat makes the HEMS tool such a valuable supplement to a weather briefing is that it fills a niche in the lineup of aviation weather information sources. The tool isn’t a surface observation report (like a METAR) or a terminal forecast but is a resource that helps you figure out what the weather may be in the low levels and at the surface between two reporting points. \nUsing the HEMS tool during your flight planning will make you a safer\, more weather-savvy pilot\, because the tool was designed to increase pilots’ situational awareness down low\, thus reducing loss-of-control accidents (LOC) and controlled flight into terrain (CFIT). \nSpeaker bio:\nRex Alexander is president of Five-Alpha (5α) LLC\, a global consultancy dedicated to providing specialized education\, training\, insight\, and services in the very challenging and unique communities of Helicopter and Vertical Lift Infrastructure and Organ/Tissue Donation & Transplantation. \n \nSponsored by Chicago Executive Pilots Association (CEPA). \nThis meeting is part of the bi-monthly Chicago Executive Pilots’ Association proficiency and safety seminar series\, this event is to promote safety and build proficiency flying. Students and airline captains alike are invited to participate in this excellent forum where we think through the various options from the comfort of your chair\, firmly on the ground… before it is you sitting in the cockpit. \nIf you aren’t a member of CEPA\, please consider joining CEPA if you aren’t a member and like programs like this\, please visit us at www.PWKpilots.org/membership/  Your dues help pay for these safety seminars. \nNOTE: There is an IMC Club meeting prior to this one. Each has a separate registration. Please join us for both but be sure to register for both separately. Also\, register here for the IMC Club meeting.
