SUMMARY:Night Flying Safety - What Your CFI Didn't Teach You - Max Trescott
DESCRIPTION:Flying at night can be fun\, but pilots should know the pitfalls and plan accordingly. The risks at night are different and higher\, but they can be quantified and mitigated by cautious pilots who are well versed in night flying safety techniques. \nLearn ways to fly safely at night and avoid some of the pitfalls that continue to claim even experienced pilots in avoidable night flying accidents. \nJoin us for our semi-monthly safety seminar. The objective: fly safer by being a prepared pilot. \nSpeaker bio: Max Trescott is the 2008 National CFI of the Year. He’s heard around the world talking about general aviation each week on his Aviation News Talk podcast. \n \nSponsored by Chicago Executive Pilots Association (CEPA). \nIf you aren’t a member of CEPA\, please consider joining CEPA if you aren’t a member and like programs like this\, please visit us at www.PWKpilots.org/membership/  Your dues help pay for these safety seminars. \nNOTE: There is an IMC Club meeting prior to this one. Each has a separate registration. Please join us for both but be sure to register for both separately. Register here for the IMC Club meeting. \n  \n

SUMMARY:IMC Club - Above the Clouds with a Dark PFD moderated by Max Trescott
DESCRIPTION:It is an early evening\, easy flight from Cleveland Lorraine County Regional (KLPR) to Nashville (KBNA). Not! This is an IMC Club meeting\, nothing happens without some kind of a problem and the opportunity for us to have a discussion about what circumstances our unfortunate pilot friend faces. What unfortunate problem? His PFD goes dark shortly after takeoff; ceilings are not good\, better weather ahead but how far? Yikes! So\, we’ll figure out our best answer to the infamous IMC Club question\, “what would you do?” \nSpeaker bio: Max Trescott is the 2008 National CFI of the Year. He’s heard around the world talking about general aviation each week on his Aviation News Talk podcast. \n  \nIMC Club: The IMC Club’s purpose is to promote instrument flying\, proficiency\, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share their perspective\, provide recognition\, foster communications\, promote safety\, and build proficiency in instrument flying. An IFR rating is not needed to participate in this excellent forum where we think through the various options from the comfort of your chair\, firmly on the ground… before it is you sitting in the cockpit. \nWe meet monthly when pilots (and would-be pilots) network and share knowledge and experiences to keep our head in the game.  \n \nNOTE: There is a Safety Meeting following this one. Each has a separate registration. Please join us for both but be sure to register for both separately. Register here for the CEPA Safety Meeting.
