DESCRIPTION:Bob will explain how to use Generative AI to create an actual\, stressful fight plan using ChatGPT for a weather briefing for the Go/No Go decision. Also planning to share two other scenarios: a ChatGPT session was used to debrief on a NORDO situation in Atlanta\, and then hypothesize with the system to plan for a similar situation taking off IFR from KPWK. This new\, rapidly evolving technology is helpful but challenging\, and occasionally seductively wrong! \nSpeaker Bio: \n \nBob Reynolds is a Chicago-based SR22T pilot based at KDPA with 2\,400+ hours and landings at 496 airports. A Guinness World Record holder (48 states in 38:13 with John Skittone)\, he has landed at all major Class B airports and flown to the northernmost point of North America—Barrow\, Alaska—circling many of the nation’s most iconic landmarks at low altitude along the way. He is currently planning a transatlantic flight this July. Now he applies AI and ChatGPT to flight planning\, debriefing\, and smarter decision-making. \n

Flying into non-towered airports is one thing\, but when you’ve got gliders and ultralights mixed into the traffic pattern\, things get way more complicated! \nContinuing with the theme of safety with mixed traffic\, let’s discuss the thinking about diversions\, traffic flows\, priorities\, and (always) risk management! \nSpeaker Bio: \n \nMichael Baraz holds ATP\, CFI\, CFII\, AGI\, and IGI certificates. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to have Alan Zielinski present his tips and tricks for mastering crosswinds. Alan has given this topic considerable time as it ruins many too many airplanes every year. Because\, if there is a single word Alan would want to be identified – and wants you to embrace – it would be “curious.” Making good landings is great\, understanding the principles and being able to explain them is yet another skill entirely. Similar to how we have (hopefully) come to understand how the stabilized approach is a critical success factor\, choosing the best runway and the entry when we have significant crosswinds are the first two components to mastering this essential skill. \nBiography: Alan Zielinski \nAlan is a well-known FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and flight instructor in the Great Chicago area for aircraft and balloons. As a single-engine and jet pilot\, instructor\, and examiner\, he has over 11\,000 hours of accident-free flying experience. He is one of us\, an aviation addict\, flying his own Cessna Skylane and his client’s Cessna Citation\, as well as gliders and balloons\, clearly\, Alan has a passion for flying! He is also the president of the Chicago Flight Instructor Association\, advancing the knowledge\, understanding\, and capabilities of the local rank-and-file instructors. \nAlan has been awarded “The Spence Award” by the Chicago Flight Examiners Association and “The Theo Award” by Chicago Flight Instructors Association for his contributions to aviation safety and leadership within the aviation community.
