SUMMARY:Annual CEPA Meeting and IMC Club - T-Skew by Jerry Seckler - November 18\, 2020
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Skew-T log P diagram is a powerful tool that pilots can use to paint a vertical picture of the atmosphere. \nThis presentation will discuss the basics of Skew-Ts\, how they are generated\, how to obtain them\, and how to use them to glean useful information about atmospheric stability\, clouds\, and turbulence. \nSpeaker Bio: \nJerrold Seckler has been flying for over 53 years.  During that time he has amassed over 7\,000 hours in a wide variety of General Aviation aircraft and has personally flown a GA aircraft on all seven continents. \nSeckler holds an ATP certificate as well as CFII\, AGI\, and IGI certificates.  He has been named a Master Ground Instructor three consecutive times by the National Association of Flight Instructors. \nSeckler is a former Board Member of the Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association and currently serves as the Dean of the College of Flight Operations of COPA University\, the training and education arm of that organization. He regularly teaches at the Cirrus Pilot Proficiency Programs and presents classes on aviation weather\, preflight briefings\, instrument procedures\, regulations\, and aeronautical decision making. \nHe has also flown over 100 flights for Angel Flight Central and serves on AFC’s Safety Committee. \nThree years ago he was honored to receive the FAA’s Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for 50 years of safe flying. \nIn a previous life\, Seckler was a Urologic Surgeon as well as an FAA Aviation Medical Examiner. \nCurrently\, Seckler owns a 2001 Cirrus SR22 which he has flown for over 3\,100 hours. \n\nIMC Club: The IMC Club’s purpose is to promote instrument flying\, proficiency\, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share their perspective\, provide recognition\, foster communications\, promote safety\, and build proficiency in instrument flying. An IFR rating is not needed to participate in this excellent forum where we think through the various options from the comfort of your chair\, firmly on the ground… before it is you sitting in the cockpit. \nWe meet monthly when pilots (and would-be pilots) network and share knowledge and experiences to keep our heads in the game. \nNew COVID-19 restrictions will not allow us to meet in person. To register as a remote participant use the blue button below. \n  \n  \nSponsored by Chicago Executive Pilots Association (CEPA). \nIf you aren’t a member of CEPA\, please consider joining CEPA if you aren’t a member and like programs like this\, please visit us at www.PWKpilots.org/membership/  Your dues pay the cost of these safety seminars. \nFor FAASafety WINGS credit\, complete the online meeting attendance form\, the meeting code will be provided at the end of the meeting.
